Colorful Chameleon

This happy, little creature was a delight to have in the bakery recently.

The bright, fun colors and funky design make this a great conversation piece for any birthday party. The chameleon was carved from pound cake and covered in hand-cut, fondant scales.

The tongue is my favorite touch....ready to catch a bug flying by!

A Birthday Princess...at age 5~

Miss Madeline has been a part of Maxie B's since birth...literally!  Over the last five years, she has come in for many cupcakes, ice cream cones, cake slices.....and now, a birthday cake for her 5th birthday.

Cupcakes....with a Maxie B's twist~

Cupcakes are all the rage right now, and we are always striving to find new ways to decorate and play up themes that have not been done before.

These amazing cupcakes were done by Elizabeth Volinski...and are the cutest thing I have ever seen!  They remind me of a vintage stamp, but done in watercolors.  You can work with almost any theme when designing cupcakes in this style, so the sky is the limit..........a great idea for baby showers, bridal luncheons, birthdays & graduations.

These Cream Cheese Pound and Devil's Food cupcakes were iced normal, but each one is adorned with a hand-drawn, fondant piece.  The vintage cupcake theme was carried out beautifully and certainly has a look that is not traditional.  You can always mix and match details within the same color scheme to add interest, so have fun with it!

When there is a reason to celebrate, we do it right......with FOOD! 

One tradition we keep in the bakery is POT LUCK! When there is a birthday, a baby, an anniversary.... really just whatever....we all bring in goodies for lunch.  Lots of good food with lots of good friends~

Today the reason is BIRTHDAYS!!

Shelby is here!

One of our fabulous bakers, Olivia, has a new baby girl and we are so thrilled!

After 41 weeks of waiting to meet this precious little bundle of joy, Shelby peacefully graced us with her presence at 11:08 am Thursday, January 6th. 

Shelby weighed in at 8 lbs. 2 oz. and was 21 1/2 inches long. 

It all happened right after Olivia and Justin were talking about how crazy it was that she could come at any moment.....at 12:40a Olivia's water broke and Daddy (Justin) switched into superman mode.   Shelby has been getting lots of attention and people to spoil her, and she already has her Mommy and Daddy wrapped around her long, little fingers.

MEET MAXINE!  

Robin, Lewis and Jaxon have added a new member to their family and a new mascot to ours~

She is such a sweet girl...only 6 months old and a cute little cuddlebug!

Peter Rabbit & friends

We came across this wonderful cake design of Beatrix Potter's, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, when someone was curious as to if we could do it as a shower cake.  Well, we fell in LOVE with Peter Rabbit and decided that we must have a display cake for all to see.  

Elizabeth Volinski has been working on it here and there, and finally it is complete!  All of the details are done out of fondant ... right down to the little mouse, cabbages, carrots and fishing bob.

The background was airbrushed, then rubbed to create the painted affect you see.  So much fun~
